Immediately following the ceremony, family members stuck around for pictures while the rest of the guests headed over to the location where we were having the reception, about a mile down the road. I anticipated to ride in the limo with the rest of the bridal party and Will to the reception location, but Will’s best man Alex had a litttttttle surprise up his sleeve…
He rented us an old-fashioned Rolls Royce (Will’s dream come true!) complete with champagne and a chauffeur. So cool!
I was shocked, to say the least!
After a couple minutes of soaking it all in, off we went to the celebration! I absolutely loved riding in the car, even though it was only about a five minute ride haha! I spent the entire time waving at all the other cars through the window like we were royalty 😉
Soon after we arrived and snuck in the back of the reception hall, the guests took their seats and the family entrances began. Starting with Will’s mom and stepdad:
Will’s dad and stepmom:
My parents and cousin Glenn pushing my dad:
And then for the bridal party! First was Luis and Pam (Will’s sister):
Albert and Jeanette:
Katie (my sister-in-law/matron of honor) and Brandon (my brother):
and Flor and Alex, the maid of honor and best man:
We told all of them to pretty much do whatever they wanted when they entered the room. As you can see, some of them got a little wild 😉
Then Will and I were finally able to come in and join all the fun!
As soon as we entered we quickly swooped to the center of the dance floor to begin our first dance as husband and wife. We danced to Unfailing Love by Jimmy Needham– a song that we actually discovered only a few months before our wedding. I absolutely love the message behind the song, and by the look on Will’s face after we heard it for the first time I could tell that he felt the same way.
It made for a perfect moment!
Next, Will and his mom danced together for the mother/son dance. The song they chose was this version of Forever Young by Rod Stewart. Such a sweet song!
Right after they finished dancing the guests all took their seats as Alex and Flor came to the front for the maid of honor and best man speech. They both did such an amazing job! We could tell that they truly poured their hearts into the kind words they had to say to us.
Flor and I met when I moved back down to Miami after college and we became best friends almost instantly. Alex actually went to high school with Will and I and was best friends with us SEPARATELY before Will and I even met each other. How crazy is that!
We love our friends!
Anndddddd that’s all I’m gonna squeeze into Part 1 before this post becomes a novel. To be continued in Part 2!
