Will and I had our engagement pictures taken three months before our wedding by Aylin Marcello, a local Miami photographer. We connected with her through the grapevine of wedding vendors, and heard nothing but rave reviews about her attention to detail and ability to work with natural lighting. After a few minutes into the shoot, it became CLEAR that she knew EXACTLY what she was doing. To say that we were pleased with the results is a complete understatement!
Everyone has THAT recipe.
Come on, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about. That recipe you made one single time and loved so much that you made it again, and again, and again, and again for months upon YEARS since. That one that you practically know by heart from tossing it together wayyyy too many times. That one that your boyfriend wont touch because of it’s healthy-enough-to-have-for-breakfast quality, which is actually fine because it just means more for you.
Well, here’s mine! These babies have always been a personal favorite for me, and you can count on finding a bag of them stored in my freezer at any time.
You know, for emergency pumpkin situations.
One thing that Will and I wanted to do during our season of engagement was make sure that we took advantage of every possible celebratory-type function that we could.
There is SO much pressure put on a couple during the wedding planning process to make all of the “perfect” decisions (whatever that even means), to choose the most inventive color schemes, and to come up with the most Pinterest-worthy ideas. I know because I felt it myself! After fighting nerves for a couple of days because I’m not exactly the most resourceful of brides, I came to realize that this season really isn’t about anything aesthetic at all as all– as all of that will be either forgotten or will fade away with time. This season should be about celebration.
Celebration because I have the opportunity to join together my life with that of my best friend’s.
Celebration because we get to take part in a union that was designed by the Creator of the earth Himself.
Celebration because we have an excuse to have one big party with all of our favorite people on this earth!
And with that—one of the things on our wish-list was an engagement party, which Will’s mom happily showered us with 🙂
On Friday, July 18th, 2014 shortly after I had gotten out of work, Will picked me up with flowers in hand. It was a special date night, he insisted, as I had been having a rough week and needed some cheering up.
Our first stop was to the bowling alley to knock down some pins, then to Tani (our favorite Thai restaurant) to pick up an order of take-out that Will had placed earlier on. Oh, but not before stopping to take humiliating pictures in the photobooth first…
