One thing that Will and I wanted to do during our season of engagement was make sure that we took advantage of every possible celebratory-type function that we could.
There is SO much pressure put on a couple during the wedding planning process to make all of the “perfect” decisions (whatever that even means), to choose the most inventive color schemes, and to come up with the most Pinterest-worthy ideas. I know because I felt it myself! After fighting nerves for a couple of days because I’m not exactly the most resourceful of brides, I came to realize that this season really isn’t about anything aesthetic at all as all– as all of that will be either forgotten or will fade away with time. This season should be about celebration.
Celebration because I have the opportunity to join together my life with that of my best friend’s.
Celebration because we get to take part in a union that was designed by the Creator of the earth Himself.
Celebration because we have an excuse to have one big party with all of our favorite people on this earth!
And with that—one of the things on our wish-list was an engagement party, which Will’s mom happily showered us with 🙂
A month into our engagement we had a celebratory lunch party thrown for us, complete with Peruvian specialties, men on grill-duty, family and friends.
I don’t remember what that yellow Peruvian dip was called but it was a hit! Katie and I thought it was just cheese 🙂
Me with my beautiful Maid of Honor, Flor–
and my brother with my gorgeous Matron of Honor, Katie!
We had such a fun time chatting, joking, and laughing with our families and friends! It was an especially great get-together because it was the first time that a lot of my family members and friends were meeting some members of Will’s family. I’d like to think that everyone hit it off…
especially the groomsmen 😉
Boys will be boys! My bridal party was a bit more well-behaved 😉
Definitely a celebration to put down in the books!
