Hey friends! What’s new?
There have been some BIG changes in the Borda household this past month—I ended up leaving my full time job and have officially kicked off my new photography business! Everything happened pretty quickly, but Will and I are truly believing that the Lord has led this transition for our family at this particular time for a reason. I will also be working part-time doing some admin help at a nearby small digital marketing company, but now I should finally have some extra time to get back to blogging more regularly! Woohoo! Corporate America was no joke 🙂
Also—we celebrated my 27th birthday a few weeks ago with a low key dinner with Will’s dad, stepmom and stepbrother. We went to Kobe Japanese Steakhouse (Will’s dads FAVORITE restaurant), so of course I loaded up on the stir fry veggies (MY favorite 🙂 ). That morning consisted of another sweet surprise! I woke up to Will holding my birthday gift which he got pretty creative for—he made 27 heart-shaped notes into a giant 27 on a bulletin board, complete with “27 reasons why he loves me”. There was a long note with an explanation under each of the hearts. Is this guy a keeper or what?!
Hmmm… what else is new… Oh—we bought a house back in July! That might be one major update I missed filling you all in on! LOL
We found one gem of a fixer-upper in the heart of our FAVORITE area in Orlando. It was actually on the market for several months before we swooped in to snatch it up. I guess some people don’t want to fix up homes too much nowadays? Regardless, we were able to get a heck of a deal for the area that we are in. It’s in such a central location and now we get to fix things the way that we would like them to be. Win win all around!
Within the first few weeks, we tore out (well.. actually Will tore out… 🙂 ) a TON of parquet flooring and old white carpet that just did not mesh with our style. We replaced that with dark brown wood grain tile (from Home Depot! We love it!) which has already been a WONDERFUL change. It’s amazing what a difference the flooring can make!
So are you all ready for some before and afters?! Before:
Like I said… we LOVE it! I’m convinced that if we turned around and sold our house today that we would already make a profit on it with just that small change. Well… I don’t think Will would agree that it was a small change considering he was the one that had to do all of the parquet tear-up and scraping of the wood glue. But thank God for handy husbands!!
And there’s still plenty of work that needs to get done, but all in due time! Stay tuned for more house updates– coming soon to a blog near you 😉
